This page gives a concise account of the information LIFeLiDAR receives when you use the site or contact the team. The GDPR notice provides the complete legal detail, including lawful bases and retention periods.
In brief
LIFeLiDAR is a small scientific-instrument company. This website is static: it carries no advertising trackers and sets no profiling cookies. Most personal data reaches us because someone sends it in a form or email, or because it is needed for a commercial or research engagement. We use that information to answer the enquiry or carry out the work concerned.
What we collect
In practice, the information falls into three categories:
- Information you send. Your name, organisation, professional email address, telephone number, and message when you use the contact form or write to info@lifelidar.com.
- Commercial records. When we enter a business relationship, this may include counterparty details, signatories, billing addresses, and banking information needed for payment.
- Server logs. The web server records routine technical data about page requests, including IP address, user agent, timestamp, and referrer, to protect and maintain the site. Logs are not combined with other personal records and are deleted on a rolling schedule.
We do not intend to process special-category data such as health, political opinion, or biometric information, and we do not make automated decisions about individuals. The bio-optical measurements on the survey pages concern the environment, not people.
Why we collect it
- To answer enquiries and provide requested information.
- To prepare quotations and manage contracts, deliveries, invoices, and support.
- To meet accounting and tax obligations.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the site.
- To record your subscription for future newsletter editions when you select the consent checkbox and submit the form. No confirmation email is sent, and newsletter delivery has not started. You can withdraw by emailing info@lifelidar.com.
Who can see it
Website enquiries and newsletter subscriptions are stored in our internal Pipelines application, where all authorised team members with an account can view them. A small number of providers support specific functions, including hosting, email, accounting, and banking. Where required, they process data under a written data-processing agreement.
We do not sell or rent personal data, or provide it to other organisations for their marketing. We disclose it to public authorities only where the law requires us to do so.
How long we keep it
We retain information only as long as its purpose or French law requires. Enquiry correspondence is generally kept for three years after the last contact; contractual and accounting records for ten years; server logs for twelve months; and newsletter records until you unsubscribe, followed by a limited period in which we retain proof of consent. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete it where the law provides that right.
- Ask us to restrict or stop a specific use of it.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing, including for the newsletter.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@lifelidar.com. We respond within one month. If you believe the response is not adequate, you can lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the CNIL, at www.cnil.fr.
