Environmental Monitoring

We plan and operate active fluorescence surveys for harmful algal blooms, hydrocarbon releases, wastewater outfalls, and suspended matter. Work can cover coastal, estuarine, or inland waters at sub-metre along-track resolution.

  1. Harmful algal blooms

    Phycocyanin and phycoerythrin returns help distinguish cyanobacterial blooms from surrounding phytoplankton and map their spatial extent

  2. Hydrocarbon spills

    Rapid-response surveys use fluorescence signatures to distinguish crude oil and refined products from biological background at ppb sensitivity

  3. Sewage and wastewater plumes

    Optical tracers are used to map outfall plumes in support of bathing-water assessment and Marine Strategy Framework Directive monitoring

  4. Suspended sediment dynamics

    Quantitative TSM surveys document dredging areas, port basins, and coastal sediment transport at sub-metre spacing along the survey line
