Satellite Cal/Val

Active LIF and passive radiometry are operated together during satellite overpasses. The paired record supports ocean-colour retrieval calibration, atmospheric-correction assessment, and regional bio-optical model development, with thousands of synchronous match-ups possible in one measurement day.

  1. Match-up density

    At 10 kn, the LIFL-11 can record about 20 measurements within one 10 × 10 m Sentinel-2 pixel

  2. Atmospheric correction validation

    Synchronous active LIF and passive Rrs measurements provide an in-situ basis for testing atmospheric-correction performance in optically complex waters

  3. Bio-optical model calibration

    Co-located measurements of chl-a, CDOM, suspended matter, and Rrs support the development of regional retrieval models
