Multi-wavelength fluorescence LiDAR

LIFeLiDAR is a French instrument company that designs and builds laser-induced fluorescence lidars and hyperspectral radiometers for aquatic measurement. Our instruments measure water quality from above the surface, aboard survey vessels and at unattended monitoring stations.
The team brings together ocean optics research, instrument engineering and two decades of field campaigns. Alongside our instruments, we provide environmental surveys and in-situ measurements for satellite calibration and validation.
Founded in 2022, LIFeLiDAR develops its instruments within French and European research programmes, with backing from France 2030

LIFeLiDAR will be at Ocean Optics XXVII in Ghent, Belgium, from 13–18 September 2026, with our own booth and a sample-measurement contest. We are excited to join the ocean optics community and share the instruments and fieldwork our team has been developing.
We are building a library of fluorescence measurements from different liquids, and we invite conference visitors to contribute. Bring a sample to our stand and we will measure it together with one of our sensors, looking at the fluorescence it produces and comparing its record with the other samples collected during the event.
The contest is an invitation to try a measurement with the team and add something new to the collection.
Our poster presents the mFL.12 fluorescence lidar and mHR.2 hyperspectral radiometer developed for OQOMETHI, combining frequent measurements above the water with observations from satellites.
It brings together the measurement principles, deployment sites and field results, from fluorescence records at Parentis and the Dordogne estuary to reflectance spectra measured in Venice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.
Our active lidars measure fluorescence from the water, while the passive radiometer measures reflected sunlight for satellite comparison
