On 29 August 2018, a LIF lidar measured a three-kilometre coastal section near a river delta on the eastern Black Sea. Chlorophyll-a, CDOM, and suspended matter were recorded together along the same transect.

Chlorophyll-a ranged from 0.09 to 0.21 µg/L. CDOM and suspended matter increased towards the south-eastern end of the transect nearest the delta, where suspended matter exceeded 2.6 mg/L compared with approximately 0.2 mg/L at the opposite end. Chlorophyll-a reached its lowest value in the same outflow area.
