On 19 March, we ran a field campaign in the Bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer with the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche. The vessel carried one LIFL-11, two mFL-12 lidars, and two mHR-2 radiometers.
The principal objective was to operate the LIFL-11 profiling mode outside controlled conditions. Vessel motion, surface illumination, and natural variation in the water column provided a practical test of the acquisition method.
The route included the EOL3 buoy, where independent in-situ measurements were collected alongside the optical instruments. Comparing the reference observations with the lidar record is an essential part of validating both the instrument response and the retrieval method.
